The Short Version
When my husband and I moved from Maine to Florida we decided to rent a furnished home first while we got familiar with the area. That meant putting all of our furniture including two queen mattresses into storage. Both mattresses were less than three years old and we were not about to let them sit unprotected. The Nordic Elk mattress bags did exactly what we needed. Easy to get on, sturdy enough to trust, and the eight handles made moving a queen mattress manageable even for someone my size. At $29.98 they are inexpensive insurance for an expensive investment.

Why We Bought Them
Relocating from Maine to Florida is not a small undertaking. We made the decision to rent a furnished home initially so we could take our time learning the communities, the good parts and the not so good parts, before committing to buying. That meant everything we owned went into storage including furniture we were not ready to part with.
Our two queen mattresses were not even three years old. Good mattresses are not cheap and we wanted them protected properly during what could be an extended storage period. My husband had heard of mattress bags before so I did what I always do when I need something. I went to Amazon and found these.
What Is In the Box
The Nordic Elk queen mattress bag is a heavy duty moving and storage cover designed specifically for queen size mattresses. It features eight reinforced handles positioned around the bag for easy maneuvering, a strong zipper closure, and thick puncture resistant material designed to protect against dust, dirt, moisture, and damage during moving and storage. The bag is designed to fit a standard queen size mattress with enough room to slide it on without a struggle.

The Real Life Experience
Getting a queen mattress into a bag sounds straightforward until you are standing next to a queen mattress realizing it is essentially the same size as a person.
I am five feet four inches tall and 115 pounds. This mattress was as big as me. Here is how the process actually worked with two people.
Lift one end of the mattress and slide the open bag underneath. Keep lifting and sliding together, working your way down the length of the mattress until the entire thing is inside the bag. Then zip it closed. That is genuinely it.
The eight handles are what make this process manageable for two regular people without professional moving equipment. Once the mattress is bagged you grab the handles, lift together, and move it where it needs to go. We got both queen mattresses bagged and moved without any real difficulty and without any professional help.
Both mattresses are currently in storage in Maine. The bags are holding up exactly as expected and we have complete confidence our mattresses are protected inside them.

What I Love
The eight handles change everything. Moving a queen mattress without handles means grabbing whatever edge you can find and hoping your grip holds. Eight reinforced handles positioned around the bag mean you always have a secure grip point no matter which direction you are moving or which end you are carrying.
Two people can do this without professional help. The bag design combined with the handles made a genuinely physically demanding task manageable. We did not need movers for this part of the process and that saved both time and money.
The material feels genuinely protective. This is not a flimsy plastic sleeve. The heavy duty material is thick enough that you trust it to protect what is inside from dust, moisture, and the inevitable bumps and scrapes of a move and storage.
The zipper is strong and reliable. Nothing is more frustrating than a zipper that fails mid-task on a heavy awkward item. This one zipped cleanly and completely without any issues.
The price is right for what it is. A good queen mattress costs anywhere from several hundred to several thousand dollars. Spending $29.98 to protect that investment during a move and storage period is not even a question worth debating.

What I Would Change
Nothing. This product did exactly what it promised. The bag went on, the zipper closed, the handles worked, and the mattresses are protected. That is the entire job description and it was fulfilled completely.
Who This Is Perfect For
Mattress bags are the right choice for anyone who needs to move, store, or protect a mattress. They are perfect for:
Anyone relocating and putting furniture into storage
Anyone moving between homes and wanting mattress protection during transport
Anyone storing a mattress seasonally or long term
Renters who move frequently and want to protect their mattress investment each time
Anyone who has ever had a mattress arrive at a new home dirty, damp, or damaged and does not want that to happen again
If your mattress is worth keeping it is worth protecting. These bags make that protection simple and affordable.
The Verdict
We moved from Maine to Florida and needed to store two queen mattresses for an indefinite period. These bags went on easily with two people, the handles made moving manageable, and both mattresses are sitting in storage right now in exactly the condition we left them in.
For $29.98 this is one of the easiest purchasing decisions on this entire site.
